Oscar-winning art director who has worked several times with Robert Benton and Elaine May, among others. Sylbert made his sole directorial outing with the far-fetched psychodrama, "The Steagle" (1971). Twin brother of production designer Richard Sylbert. Paul worked with his wife Anthea, a production designer and costume designer on several movies between 1967 and 1976 prior to their divorce (she later collaborated with Paul's brother on well-known films such as "Chinatown").
